Clinical application of principles and theories learned in DHYG 103 - Dental Radiography . Exposure, processing and management of intra and extra oral radiographs.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate proper infection control measures during radiology procedures.
- Demonstrate proper radiation safety measures during radiology procedures.
- Demonstrate proper quality control measures in the radiology area.
- Demonstrate proper care of the automatic processor.
- Demonstrate how to properly set up the automatic processor.
- Demonstrate how to properly position dental films for intraoral radiographs.
- Demonstrate how to properly align a patient for a panoramic radiograph.
- Demonstrate the ability to properly expose, process and mount the following radiographs:
- FMX
- Periapicals radiograph
- Panoramic radiograph
- Bitewing radiographs
- Demonstrate proper documentation of radiographic exposures in the patient’s chart.
- Properly identify landmarks on a FMX and panoramic radiograph.
- Self evaluate to determine the quality of exposed radiographs and determine the need for retakes.
